In a world of complexity, economic uncertainty, political absurdity and environmental crisis, I find solace and inspiration in the simplicity of nature. My name is Delphine Sellem and I am an artist deeply in love with the raw beauty of the natural world. Through my work, I aim to capture the essence and poetry of nature, highlighting its innate simplicity and profound tranquility.
Rooted in my affinity for outdoor exploration, my new collection encapsulates the unique fusion of elemental simplicity of natural landscapes with intricate portrayals of insects and animals. I explore the duality of nature through contrasting techniques. Broad, layered stencils and vibrant rollers capture the raw, unfiltered experience of being in nature. Each layer of my work is a homage to the organic elegance that surrounds us, a gentle reminder of the beauty found in simple things is guarantor of life and future on our planet.
In stark contrast, I meticulously render animals with hyper-realistic detail, celebrating the intricate beauty and complexity of life. Delphine is a lifelong, self-taught artist who has dedicated over a decade to honing her craft while simultaneously imparting her knowledge as an art teacher. In this role, she delved into numerous artistic movements, meticulously studying their techniques and principles to enrich her own understanding and expression. This immersive experience allowed her to draw inspiration from a wide spectrum of artistic traditions, enhancing her creative journey. After exploring various artistic influences
Delphine's journey has led her from her native France to residences in four countries, ultimately settling in Miami, Florida. Here, she draws inspiration from the lush tropical vegetation, the vibrant energy of multicultural communities, and the thriving art scene, infusing her work with a sense of wonder and curiosity.
Naturally transitioning from a career primarily focused on teaching to one centered on her art, Delphine is embracing her identity as an emerging artist. This shift reflects her commitment to her craft and her passion for sharing her artistic vision with the world.
